Summary
Lead a team of 4-7 XD designers while remaining hands-on in UX and visual design. Balance people leadership, design strategy, and cross-functional collaboration to influence product roadmap and deliver high-quality design work.
Responsibilities
- Provide design direction and quality oversight for team deliverables
- Influence product roadmap and business strategy through design insights
- Partner with product and engineering leads to align priorities and delivery
- Contribute hands-on design work for strategic initiatives (20-40% of time)
- Drive XD process improvements and operational excellence
- Collaborate with other XD managers on org-wide initiatives and standards
- Present team work and strategy to senior stakeholders
- Lead mentor and develop designers through 1:1s and performance reviews
- Recruit and hire XD talent to build a strong collaborative team culture
Requirements
- 6+ years of XD design experience with 1-2 years of direct people management
- Strong portfolio demonstrating design leadership and strategic thinking
- High skill level in both UX and visual UI design
- Proven track record of developing talent and building high-performing teams
- Experience with agile development processes and cross-functional collaboration
- Excellent communication facilitation and stakeholder management skills
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience
- Servant leadership philosophy with focus on team member growth
