Summary
The Assistant Buyer provides operational support to Buyers in the beauty category to drive sales volume, gross margin and full-price sell thru objectives. This role involves purchase order management, inventory monitoring, forecasting support and cross-functional coordination to support seasonal planning and events.
Responsibilities
- Monitor sales and margin performance and interpret variances against budget and forecast
- Assist in purchase order creation, tracking and open to buy reporting
- Follow up with vendors on order confirmations and resolve distribution issues
- Support forecast preparation and participate in monthly and seasonal markdown sessions
- Monitor stock levels and recommend repeats, consolidations and RTVs
- Prepare pre-market analysis and contribute to seasonal business reviews
- Manage buying office and sample inventory including ordering and returns
- Coordinate activities for trunk shows, special events and in-store product knowledge sessions
- Prepare presentations, media kits and event materials
Requirements
- Post-secondary degree or equivalent work experience
- 1-2 years of post-university work experience
- Knowledge of purchasing principles and retail math
- Experience with analysis and system-based tools considered an asset
- Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
- Demonstrated leadership and influencing abilities
- Comfortable with ambiguity and change and highly service-oriented
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Excel
