Assistant General Manager

Summary

The Assistant General Manager supports store leadership to achieve sales, customer service, and operational goals at a flagship department store location. This role helps lead the sales team, drives execution of merchandising and visual standards, and ensures an excellent customer experience. The Assistant General Manager partners with the General Manager to manage daily operations and develop store talent.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, coach, and develop sales and support staff to meet performance goals.
• Drive sales performance and execute strategies to achieve store KPIs.
• Assist with hiring, training, scheduling, and performance management.
• Ensure visual merchandising standards and inventory accuracy are maintained.
• Handle customer escalations and uphold high standards of service.
• Support compliance with operational policies, loss prevention, and safety procedures.

Requirements

• 1+ years of retail management or assistant manager experience, preferably in a department store or specialty retail environment.
• Proven leadership, coaching, and team development skills.
• Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• High school diploma or equivalent; retail systems and POS experience preferred.
