Job Description

Summary

The Assistant Manager supports the General Manager to deliver a memorable customer shopping experience while driving sales, margin and profit for the store. This role leads the sales floor, coaches staff, helps execute merchandising and loss prevention initiatives, and assists with recruitment and team development.

Responsibilities

  • Drive sales and profit performance for the assigned store or department.
  • Support development and monitoring of operating budgets and sales goals.
  • Supervise and mentor sales associates to maximize sales and customer service.
  • Maintain a welcoming store environment and uphold brand presentation standards.
  • Provide feedback to buying and allocation teams on merchandise performance.
  • Execute visual presentation and merchandising initiatives.
  • Implement loss prevention and asset protection procedures.
  • Recruit, supervise and develop store staff and ensure open roles are filled timely.
  • Support execution of promotional strategies with senior management.

Requirements

  • Relevant retail management experience preferred; managerial default minimum used.
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach, motivate and develop staff toward goals.
  • Analytical, business and financial acumen.
  • Computer skills preferred: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Ability to operate register and perform prolonged standing and walking.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs and climb a ladder as trained under health and safety guidelines.
  • Ability to work on the sales floor, stock areas, dressing rooms and office spaces.
