Summary
Responsible for set-up, operation, and inspection of CNC and manual machines to deliver parts within specifications and company quality standards. Works with 3-, 4- and 5-axis milling and CNC lathe equipment, performing tool offsets, program edits, and machine troubleshooting. Trains and mentors CNC operators, supports new product implementation, and proposes continuous improvement opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC lathe and vertical mill machines, including multi-axis milling and manual secondary equipment.
- Perform tool touch off, establish tool compensation and wear offsets, and determine cutting tool replacement frequency.
- Changeover product setups, maintain work holding fixtures, stops, datum offsets, and indicators.
- Maintain machine cleanliness, coolant and lubrication systems, and use a refractometer.
- Receive and verify work orders, meet production quotas, and document process or work instruction revisions.
- Troubleshoot machine alarms and errors, perform repairs within scope, and consult programmers or facilities as needed.
- Participate in new product development implementation and streamline machining processes.
- Train and mentor CNC operators and machinists, providing first-line support and cross-training.
Requirements
- 8+ years of machining experience on CNC equipment and related degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proficiency with CNC programming, MDI, program editing, and multi-axis machining.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, and technical documents.
- Strong problem-solving and root-cause analysis skills with attention to detail.
- Good English communication skills, teamwork, and ability to lead and train others.
- Basic MS Office skills and willingness to work overtime as scheduled.
- College-level manufacturing certification and familiarity with lean manufacturing principles.
