Summary
The Designer will support the RRL men's design team across the full product lifecycle with a primary focus on knitwear, combining creative vision with technical execution. The role requires strong garment construction knowledge, expert sketching and color rendering, and the ability to translate vintage and heritage references into commercially viable product. The Designer will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams and participate in fittings, line reviews, and showroom openings.
Responsibilities
- Develop product concepts using vintage prototypes, sketches, fabric swatches, trims, and inspiration boards aligned with seasonal themes
- Research trends, fabrics, silhouettes, embroidery, and finishing techniques to inform design direction
- Create detailed technical sketches and multi-view layouts in Adobe Illustrator with accurate color rendering
- Prepare comprehensive style handoff packages and maintain style stats throughout the seasonal process
- Drive alignment with Product Development, Technical Design, and Fabric teams and attend fittings to communicate fit and construction changes
- Organize electronic and physical design materials and manage multiple projects to meet critical deadlines; travel as needed for research and factory visits
Requirements
- Hands-on apparel design experience with proven knitwear expertise
- Deep knowledge of heritage sportswear, military, western, and workwear references and vintage aesthetics
- Expert-level proficiency in flat sketching, color rendering, and illustration
- Advanced understanding of garment construction, knit fabrications, pattern making, and fit principles
- Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and experience with Web PLM and Microsoft Office; portfolio required
- Strong presentation, leadership, attention to detail, and ability to collaborate across teams and travel as required
