Fitter/Tailor/Sewer

Summary

Alteration staff member responsible for providing high-end tailoring services and exceptional customer service in a luxury retail environment. Performs fittings and alterations across a wide range of garments using standard and specialty sewing equipment while maintaining a clean and safe work area. Works collaboratively with the tailoring team to meet individual productivity and performance goals and supports store initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Conduct customer fittings and make alteration decisions during fittings
• Perform alterations and repairs on a variety of garments including leather, knits, and fine tailoring
• Use standard sewing, pressing, and spotting equipment
• Operate specialty machines such as double-blind, buttonhole, cover-stitch, and leather machines
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment in the alterations workroom
• Provide exceptional customer service and develop strong customer relationships
• Follow all store, alteration workroom, and tailor procedures and policies
• Support department and store initiatives and perform ad hoc responsibilities as needed

Requirements

• Minimum 3 years fitting and tailoring experience with high-end merchandise
• Ability to fit and alter a wide range of garments
• Technical skills in specialty areas such as beading, buttonholes, and fine tailoring desired
• Experience using specialty sewing machines and standard equipment
• Knowledge of alterations industry, luxury fabrications, and styling
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Strong customer service orientation and ability to meet productivity goals
