Housekeeping Lead

SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE

• The Housekeeping Lead supports daily housekeeping operations by guiding room attendants, monitoring cleanliness, and ensuring guest rooms and common areas meet the hotel’s standards for presentation and comfort. This role serves as a hands-on resource for the housekeeping team, helping maintain efficiency, consistency, and an exceptional guest experience.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Support daily housekeeping assignments and help coordinate room attendant workloads.
• Clean and service guest rooms and common areas as needed.
• Inspect completed rooms to ensure cleanliness, organization, and presentation standards are met.
• Provide guidance and on-the-job support to housekeeping team members.
• Communicate room status and readiness updates to the front desk.
• Monitor housekeeping supplies, linens, and equipment and report replenishment needs.
• Report maintenance issues, damaged items, and lost property to the appropriate team.
• Promote compliance with cleaning procedures, guest privacy requirements, and safety standards.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Previous housekeeping experience, preferably in a hotel or hospitality environment.
• Prior experience training or supporting team members preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and presentation.
• Good communication, organization, and time-management skills.
• Ability to lead by example while performing hands-on housekeeping duties.
• Knowledge of cleaning procedures, sanitation, and safe chemical handling.
• Ability to work flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays as needed.

REPORTS TO

• This position is a direct report to the department supervisor or on-site Hotel Manager.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Work takes place throughout the hotel, including guest rooms, public spaces, and housekeeping storage areas. The role requires frequent interaction with staff and coordination with other departments to maintain the hotel’s service and presentation standards.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• This position requires prolonged standing and walking, frequent bending, reaching, kneeling, and pushing housekeeping carts. The ability to lift and carry linens, cleaning supplies, and equipment is required.

EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

• The hotel operates 24/7, so scheduling will be based on shifts to accommodate occupancy needs, which may vary by season.
