Summary
Experienced jeweler responsible for translating complex design concepts into physical prototypes and finished pieces within the Jewelry Design and Innovation Workshop. Role focuses on prototype creation, ensuring manufacturability and product integrity, mentoring team members, and providing technical leadership across design and production functions.
Responsibilities
- Create mock-ups, soft prototypes, templates, tools and models from CAD files, sketches and verbal direction.
- Provide timely and innovative solutions to complex mechanical and manufacturing problems.
- Ensure models meet quality, safety and manufacturing standards and project targets.
- Monitor project timelines, communicate risks and adhere to schedules.
- Interface with design, JDIW teams and manufacturing on functionality and manufacturability.
- Participate in brainstorming and provide direction on component construction and production methods.
- Mentor and share techniques with model makers and POD teams.
- Support internal and external suppliers to demonstrate product requirements and techniques.
- Use systems for metrics and inventory control and attend required meetings on time.
Requirements
- 5-10 years hands-on bench model making experience.
- Master craft level skill in metalsmithing and jewelry techniques.
- In-depth manufacturing knowledge of jewelry and related industries.
- Extensive experience with precious metals and gemstones.
- Experience building, repairing and troubleshooting metalsmithing and manufacturing processes.
- Strong problem-solving, written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to mentor others and provide technical leadership.
- Capacity to adapt and meet urgent timelines under high demand conditions.
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in relevant design or engineering fields preferred.
