Summary
Perform detailed inspections of serviced and client owned jewelry and related merchandise using established standards and specifications. Document and communicate inspection results to repair services and operations to ensure servicing quality meets client expectations. Assist in training new team members and participate in continuous improvement of service processes.
Responsibilities
- Inspect serviced and client owned merchandise including jewelry, watches, and related items against COM Repair Standards
- Record detailed inspection findings and maintain accurate departmental records
- Provide inspection results and guidance to technicians to ensure repairs meet standards
- Inspect gemstones and evaluate them according to guidelines
- Manage workflow of orders through the department and prioritize based on client due dates
- Collaborate with teammates and management to determine next steps for incoming merchandise
- Identify trends in inspection results and help implement improvements to quality
- Participate in training of new inspectors and staff
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 4 years of jewelry experience
- Completion of Graduate Gemology degree or completion of GIA courses
- Previous quality assurance and microscope experience
- Ability to work using a microscope for extended periods
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel Word and Outlook
- Flexible schedule with ability to work overtime and possible weekends
- Strong verbal and written English communication skills
