Summary

The Alterations and Tailor Shop Manager leads a retail alterations department, coaching and developing employees to deliver high quality tailoring services while managing workload, shop operations, and labor and office expenses. This role requires strong customer service, technical alterations knowledge, and the ability to hire and train staff.

Responsibilities

• Teach coach and develop alterations staff to meet service and quality standards
• Identify recruit and hire qualified tailoring team members
• Coach employees to complete alterations according to company guidelines
• Organize department workload to ensure items are completed by promised dates
• Educate staff on proper fit shop procedures and professional customer interactions
• Manage office and labor expenses for the alterations shop
• Ensure safe and proper use of all equipment in the shop

Requirements

• Previous experience in alterations and tailoring
• Knowledge of safe operation of tailoring equipment
• Strong communication skills with co workers and customers
• High level of ownership accountability and initiative
• Ability to work a flexible schedule based on department and store needs
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
