Summary
The Design and Production Manager coordinates design engineering and physical production for Store Environment, translating design intent into fabrication-ready specifications. This role manages design engineers and coordinates day-to-day work across designers and four regional shops to keep projects aligned with production schedules.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage design engineers, including performance management and career development.
- Coordinate day-to-day assignments and priorities for environmental designers in partnership with the Senior Director.
- Own production feasibility, engineering specifications, and fabrication readiness across projects.
- Oversee production delivery across four regional shops and allocate engineering resources as priorities shift.
- Keep design work aligned with production timelines and escalate creative-direction conflicts when needed.
- Resolve engineering constraints and material or fabrication decisions, and maintain workflows and project-tracking processes.
- Partner with production and design leaders to coordinate project timelines and shared resources.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, design, project management, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- At least 5 years of experience in production management, design engineering, or project management, ideally in retail environments or physical production.
- Experience managing people and coordinating cross-functional design and production work.
- Strong project-management, prioritization, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to guide work in a matrixed structure and coordinate multiple projects and stakeholders.
- Working knowledge of fabrication methods, materials, and engineering feasibility for retail environments.
