Summary
The External Market Investigator oversees investigations across key markets to reduce shrink and protect assets by leading organized retail crime investigations, providing in-store training, and partnering with regional investigators and law enforcement. This role conducts surveillance, develops cases for prosecution, and supports store and field Asset Protection teams to improve loss prevention outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and measure high risk locations for shrink, loss prevention, physical security, safety and training performance
- Conduct and lead complex investigations into ORC fraud brand and reputational issues
- Perform static and mobile surveillance and intelligence led tactics to aid in shrink reduction
- Work with store management and field Asset Protection to identify external theft opportunities and create action plans
- Develop cases for prosecution and partner with law enforcement at local state and federal levels
- Provide hands on training and coaching of investigative interview and surveillance tactics to field and store leaders
- Support and consult business partners on internal and external investigations as needed
- Use reporting tools to aggregate investigations charges and track trends and opportunities
- Represent the company in court and legal proceedings when necessary
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree preferred or demonstrated experience required
- Minimum 3 years loss prevention experience or equivalent law enforcement or military experience
- Experience with internal and external theft investigation tactics and apprehending subjects
- Ability to handle sensitive confidential information with discretion
- Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Proven execution skills and ability to drive change in ambiguous environments
- Familiarity with social media platforms internet marketplaces and investigative tools
