Job Description

Maison Margiela is a Paris-based fashion house founded in 1988 by Belgian designer Martin Margiela. Celebrating unconventional aesthetics and embracing the philosophy that fashion is an art of expression rather than a cult of personality, Maison Margiela offers haute couture, ready-to-wear for women and men, contemporary line MM6, footwear, interior design, and accessories, including leather goods, fine jewelry and fragrance.

In 2002, the French house became part of OTB. Along with sister brands of the group, Maison Margiela continues pushing the boundaries of modern fashion while preserving its distinctive identity and heritage.

Position Overview

The Operations Associate is responsible for the accurate and efficient flow of merchandise from delivery through to the sales floor. This role maintains stockroom organization, inventory integrity, and replenishment standards so that the selling team has full product availability and the store presents a consistent elevated customer experience. The Operations Associate works behind the scenes but is integral to store performance, loss prevention, and brand presentation.

Reports To: Store Manager, Operations Manager or Operations Supervisor

  • Ticket, sensor-tag, steam, and prepare merchandise to brand presentation standards prior to floor placement.
  • Process transfers, returns to vendor, damages, and e-commerce/omni-channel orders accurately and within required timeframes.

Stockroom Management

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe stockroom with merchandise organized by category, style, and size per company standards.
  • Maximize stockroom capacity and ensure product is easily locatable for the selling team.
  • Ensure all fixtures, supplies, packaging, and equipment are stored safely and in compliance with fire and safety codes.

Replenishment & Floor Support

  • Replenish the sales floor throughout the day, prioritizing size gaps, key items, and high-velocity product.
  • Support floor sets, markdowns, promotional changes, and visual merchandising directives as assigned.
  • Retrieve merchandise for clients and selling associates promptly during business hours.

Inventory Integrity & Loss Prevention

  • Participate in cycle counts, physical inventories, and inventory reconciliation activities.
  • Follow all loss prevention policies and procedures, including proper handling of high-value merchandise and secured product.
  • Report suspicious activity, inventory discrepancies, or policy violations to store leadership.

Customer & Team Support

  • Provide courteous service to customers when on the sales floor; may support fitting rooms, register, or greeting during peak periods.
  • Contribute to a positive, collaborative team environment and support onboarding of new associates on stockroom procedures.
  • Adhere to all company policies, including attendance, dress code, safety, and code of conduct.

Qualifications

  • 1+ year of experience in retail stockroom, warehouse, logistics, or a similar operations role.
  • Experience in premium, luxury, or specialty retail.
  • High school diploma or equivalent, or equivalent work experience.
  • Ability to work a flexible retail schedule including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays, and to support peak periods and inventory events.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic proficiency with handheld devices, POS, or inventory systems (training provided).
  • Conversational Spanish or other second language a plus.
  • Frequently lift, carry, push, or pull merchandise and cartons weighing up to 40 pounds; occasional team lifts for heavier items.
  • Stand, walk, bend, kneel, squat, reach overhead, and climb ladders or step stools for extended periods during a scheduled shift.
  • Operate stockroom equipment such as rolling racks, hand trucks, and steamers.
  • Work in a stockroom environment that may include varying temperatures, noise levels, and confined spaces.
