Summary
RH is seeking a Purchasing Specialist to source inventory, materials, and supplies for its luxury furniture finishing and custom manufacturing workshop in Torrance, California. The role manages vendor partnerships, purchasing activities, and sourcing to support production and operations while optimizing cost, efficiency, and quality.
Responsibilities
- Source stock inventory, raw materials, hardware, finishes, and operational supplies from domestic and international vendors.
- Evaluate bids and negotiate pricing, terms, lead times, and delivery schedules.
- Maintain vendor relationships and identify new partnerships that improve quality, efficiency, and cost.
- Manage purchase orders and track orders through completion and delivery.
- Collaborate with production staff to reconcile inventory in Odoo ERP, forecast purchasing needs, and maintain office supplies.
- Maintain accurate item master records and address incoming stock quality issues.
- Support export control and customs classifications and ensure purchasing compliance with applicable regulations and internal policies.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of procurement, supply chain, or purchasing experience, preferably in luxury furniture, woodworking, or high-end manufacturing.
- Experience sourcing raw materials, hardware, and finishes domestically and internationally.
- Proficiency with Odoo ERP and Microsoft Excel.
- Working knowledge of U.S. customs regulations, import and export compliance, and export control and customs classifications.
- Strong communication, relationship-building, and negotiation skills, with established domestic and international vendor relationships.
- Ability to work in a furniture-finishing shop and warehouse and occasionally handle inventory or samples weighing up to 35 pounds.
