Overview
Our client is seeking a full-time Sales Associate to join a new Madison Avenue boutique in New York. This is a hands-on luxury selling role within an intimate two-person store environment, where the associate will build lasting client relationships, contribute meaningfully to first-year sales goals, and help establish the presence of a distinctive fine jewelry house in the neighborhood. The position is fully on-site and offers the opportunity to be part of a new store opening from the start, with close partnership across the boutique and atelier teams.
Responsibilities
Drive sales in the Madison Avenue boutique through personalized service and strong product storytelling.
Build and develop a personal client book using neighborhood outreach and the existing client base.
Proactively clienteling through phone, text, appointment setting, and consistent follow-up after each visit.
Partner with the Store Manager to deliver daily selling goals and support the store's first-year business plan.
Independently hold the sales floor on the manager's days off, including:
Opening and closing the boutique
Cash handling
Following security procedures
Support boutique operations related to inventory and client service, including:
Receiving merchandise
Transfers with the downtown atelier
Repairs
Special orders and custom requests
Coordinate and host client appointments with a high level of professionalism and discretion.
Support trunk shows, local events, and other community-facing selling opportunities.
Develop deep knowledge of the collection, including high karat gold, hand-hammered techniques, and the craftsmanship behind the product.
Collaborate with the broader team as needed for store coverage between locations.
Requirements
Experience in luxury fine jewelry sales, ideally within a designer house, high jewelry boutique, or comparable specialty retail environment.
Proven success selling at four and five figure price points.
Strong clienteling skills, with the ability to build and actively manage a personal book of business.
Confidence working with a private, discerning clientele who value discretion and personalized service.
Ability to work fully on-site in New York on a seven-day retail schedule, including weekends and holidays.
Comfort working in a small team where sales, operations, shipping, and client service responsibilities are shared.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage appointments, follow-up, and operational details with care.
Interest in craftsmanship-driven fine jewelry and the ability to learn product details in depth.
Additional language skills are a plus.
Familiarity with high karat gold or handmade jewelry is preferred.
Flexibility to support both the Madison Avenue boutique and the downtown atelier as business needs require.
