Senior Director Merchandising

Summary

The Senior Director of Merchandising leads the performance and strategic direction for North America Jewelry and Accessories, translating department vision into execution and driving commercial growth. This role partners with the Vice President and Rome Headquarters to align cross-channel strategies across retail, wholesale, ecommerce, and training while developing best-in-class merchandising practices and organizational capabilities. The position balances strategic thinking, strong commercial acumen, and inspirational leadership to deliver consistent product launches and measurable business impact.

Responsibilities

• Define long-term merchandising priorities and strategic roadmaps in partnership with the Vice President.
• Anticipate market trends and client behaviors to shape assortment, inventory, and product strategies.
• Partner with Rome Headquarters to influence product development and ensure regional alignment.
• Direct execution of product launches, in-store activations, and key retail moments across channels.
• Establish forecasting governance, executive business review processes, and reporting frameworks to support decision-making.
• Align merchandising with visual merchandising, CRM, marketing, retail excellence, and training for consistent field execution.
• Foster continuous improvement by simplifying processes and enhancing cross-functional collaboration.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in business, merchandising, or related field; MBA preferred.
• 12 years minimum progressive merchandising leadership experience in retail, preferably luxury (12-15+ years noted).
• Proven success leading multi-category organizations and managing managers with coaching and talent development experience.
• Strong commercial acumen in assortment and inventory optimization, forecasting, and retail analytics.
• Experience driving organizational transformation, business process improvement, and change management.
• Advanced analytical skills with Excel, SAP, and Power BI and strong communication and stakeholder influence abilities.
