Summary
The Senior Legal Counsel provides corporate and commercial legal advice across Holt Renfrew and supports strategic initiatives, governance, compliance, and risk management. This role partners with leaders across the business and works with external counsel as needed.
Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements and advise on contract interpretation, risk, and negotiation strategy.
- Support marketing initiatives, intellectual property matters, real estate and lease negotiations, and construction projects.
- Advise on corporate governance, statutory compliance, policies, and regulatory developments.
- Support privacy, data security, employment, investigations, litigation, and other cross-functional legal matters.
- Lead project teams, provide legal training, and mentor junior associates.
Requirements
- Juris Doctor or Bachelor of Laws from an accredited law school and membership in good standing with the Ontario bar.
- At least 8 years of post-call experience in a large national law firm, an in-house setting, or a combination of both.
- Strong experience in corporate and commercial law, contract negotiation, and corporate governance; experience with intellectual property, employment, real estate, and privacy matters is an asset.
- Demonstrated leadership, communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and an interest in fashion and luxury retail.
