Summary
Setter Level 2 produces precious jewelry of intermediate to advanced complexity by setting diamonds and colored stones to meet quality standards within prescribed production times. The role focuses on rings and other pieces using various stone-setting techniques and requires delivering clean, timely work. This is a hands-on manufacturing position that requires adherence to safety procedures and 5S housekeeping practices.
Responsibilities
- Perform stone setting operations, including pave, prong setting and burnishing, on rings and other precious jewelry pieces.
- Set diamonds and colored precious stones to quality standards, ensuring even placement and preventing damage.
- Deliver clean work in a timely manner to meet departmental production efficiencies and prescribed production times.
- Follow all safety procedures, report incidents promptly, and utilize required protective equipment and shields.
- Maintain 5S housekeeping programs and care for tools and work area.
- Perform other duties as required and be available for overtime and weekend work as business needs arise.
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience in pave, prong setting and burnishing or demonstrated ability and skillset of a Setter II.
- Experience working with platinum 18KT, colored stones, and fancy cut shaped stones.
- Familiarity with tools such as burrs, gravers and burnishers and ability to read and understand blueprints.
- Strong attention to detail, problem solving skills, and ability to adapt in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work overtime and weekend overtime as business needs arise and to follow company safety procedures when handling chemicals and tooling.
- Ability to communicate and understand English.
- Preferred: high school diploma or equivalent, basic computer skills, and GIA certification.
