Summary
The Tailor performs alterations and fittings for luxury garments within established timeframes, supports client relationships through superior service, and collaborates with sales and support teams. The role includes operating tailoring equipment, advising clients on lead times and costs, and coordinating Made to Measure and Bespoke orders.
Responsibilities
- Complete fittings and alterations to Hermès standards in a timely manner
- Operate tailoring equipment including sewing machines, serger, button machine, cutting table, and pressing equipment
- Press altered clothing and manage appropriate pressing techniques for various fabrics
- Advise clients on alteration options, lead times, and costs
- Support the selling process by greeting clients and performing fittings
- Work closely with Made to Measure Client Development Manager on MTM and Bespoke orders
- Maintain product knowledge of women's and men's collections seasonally
- Assist in teaching store personnel basic pressing techniques
Requirements
- 8+ years of alterations experience in a luxury environment
- Strong tailoring skills and applied tailoring experience
- Thorough knowledge of garment construction, men's suiting techniques, and fabrications
- Proficiency operating industrial tailoring and pressing equipment
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with clients and team members
- Ability to organize and track product and client information
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs
