Responsibilities- Ensure the proper fit of garments and mark them for tailoring.
- Answer customer questions regarding alterations, fit, repair, cleaning, or care.
- Sew needed alterations within the alteration schedule provided to customers.
- Press and repair garments when appropriate.
- Maintain an orderly appearance of the tailor shop and keep supplies stocked.
- Ensure that all equipment such as sewing machines, pressers, and steamers are well-maintained and kept in working order.
- Use proper telephone etiquette when answering the phone, taking messages, and answering customer inquiries.
Requirements- 10+ years of experience in tailoring.
- Ability to provide high-quality workmanship in alterations, repairs, and pressing of merchandise.
- Ability to accurately mark and pin garments for alteration.
- Ability to understand all fit issues and make appropriate recommendations regarding fit and alteration of merchandise.
- Ability to provide outstanding customer service in person and by telephone.
- Ability to communicate in a clear, concise, understandable manner, and listen attentively to others.
- Ability to adjust priorities and manage time wisely in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work varied hours/days.
