Alterations Associate - Short Hills

Summary

Perform skilled garment alterations and repairs to ensure a high-quality fit and finish for customers. Provide professional, attentive service during fittings and ensure alteration requests are completed accurately and on time. Maintain organized work area and accurate records of alteration tickets.

Responsibilities

• Measure garments and customers to determine appropriate alterations and adjustments.
• Perform alterations such as hemming, taking in/out seams, shortening sleeves, and other tailoring tasks using sewing machines and hand-sewing techniques.
• Conduct fittings with customers and make necessary adjustments to achieve proper fit.
• Inspect finished garments for quality and adherence to specifications before return to customers.
• Manage alteration tickets, track progress, and meet promised completion timelines.
• Maintain sewing equipment and a clean, safe workspace.

Requirements

• Proven experience performing garment alterations and tailoring work, including machine and hand sewing.
• Strong attention to detail and a high standard for finish and fit.
• Good customer service and communication skills for fittings and consultations.
• Ability to manage multiple alteration orders and meet deadlines.
• Basic ability to operate and maintain sewing machines and related tools.
