Summary
Under direction from the Alteration Manager, the Master Fitter Tailor Sewer produces high quality altered merchandise within established time frame standards while delivering exceptional customer service and building customer relationships. The role requires technical expertise across luxury garments and collaboration with store team members to support department and store initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Perform fittings and make alterations on a wide range of garments including leather knits and fine tailoring
- Execute complex alterations such as shortening sleeves at shoulders and recutting trousers
- Utilize specialty skills including beading buttonholes and double face techniques
- Take measurements and complete Made To Measure forms for all garment types
- Press and spot garments to high standards
- Make alterations decisions during customer fittings using expertise
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment and follow workroom policies
- Provide high level customer service and develop customer relationships
- Support company store and department initiatives and perform ad hoc responsibilities
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years fitting tailoring experience with high end merchandise
- Strong technical background in specialty skills such as leather knits beading and fine tailoring
- Knowledge of alterations industry including fabrication and styling of luxury merchandise
- Ability to perform complex alterations and take accurate measurements
- Pressing and spotting skills
- Ability to work in a fast paced team oriented environment with limited supervision
- Open to learning and developing new skills and processes
- Knowledge of pattern making and draping
- High school graduate or equivalent preferred
