The Master of Mending is an in-store artisan responsible for performing expert mending and garment reconditioning at the Madison Avenue atelier. The role focuses on knitwear repair, including stitch and hole reconstruction and chain stitch work, while also supporting minor tailoring repairs and personalization tasks. The position involves direct customer interaction in an immersive atelier setting and requires meticulous attention to luxury finishing standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform mending on knitwear garments, including stitch and hole reconstruction
• Execute chain stitch repairs and minor tailoring tasks such as sewing on labels and buttons
• Operate sewing machines and personalization equipment for initials on shirts and scarves
• Iron and recondition garments with attention to yarn type and garment care
• Work directly in front of clients, handling last-minute or unique customer requests

Requirements

• Proven experience in knitwear repair and knit stitch reconstruction
• Strong knowledge of chain stitch techniques and handling delicate yarns such as wool and cashmere
• Ability to iron and recondition garments appropriately for different yarns
• Proficiency with needles, sewing machines, tailor's scissors, thimbles, magnifying lamp, and garment reconditioning tools
• Meticulous attention to detail, luxury finishing standards, and strong customer-facing skills
• Flexibility, calmness under pressure, and professionalism when working with high-end clientele
