Alterations Specialist - Soho

Summary

Alterations Specialist responsible for producing high-quality altered merchandise within established time standards while delivering excellent client service in the boutique. Works with intricate luxury fabrics and components (chains, tweeds, silks) and provides fitting, styling advice, and garment construction to meet client specifications. Reports to the Operations Manager and helps support in-store operations to ensure optimal client service.

Responsibilities

• Uphold production standards to deliver the CHANEL client experience
• Fit garments on clients and determine required alterations
• Construct garments and articles according to clients’ specifications and preferences
• Organize, label, and maintain client-owned pieces and alteration records
• Maintain sewing machines, irons, and pressing equipment in proper working order
• Provide styling and fitting advice to clients during appointments
• Collaborate with boutique associates and management to support team objectives

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of alterations experience in a luxury retail environment preferred
• Strong technical background with specialty skills (leather, knits, double-face, beading, fine tailoring, buttonholes)
• Sound knowledge of various fabrics and sewing techniques
• Exceptional client service and communication skills
• Detail oriented with the ability to work under time constraints
• Minimum High School Diploma
• Ability to lift 15 lb and perform in-store duties
• Flexible schedule with availability for late nights, weekends, and some holidays
• Foreign language skills preferred
