Summary
Responsible for protecting customers, employees, merchandise, and store assets through theft prevention, investigations, surveillance, and emergency response. Partners with store leadership, local law enforcement, and cross functional teams to reduce shrinkage and maintain a safe shopping environment. Acts as a member of the Emergency Response Team and participates in safety training and audits.
Responsibilities
- Resolve theft through apprehensions and adherence to policy and procedures.
- Identify theft trends using reporting, surveillance, and technology.
- Implement action plans and merchandise protection standards to reduce shrinkage.
- Investigate internal theft and gather evidence for investigations.
- Use video and RFID systems to monitor activity and support investigations.
- Respond to, escalate, and report security and emergency incidents including medical emergencies.
- Lead security audits and deliver shrinkage awareness training within the store.
- Prepare prompt and complete reports for incidents, recoveries, and investigations.
- Testify in court when summoned for criminal or civil cases.
Requirements
- Experience in investigative, asset protection, or security procedures preferred.
- Ability to make decisions and use good judgment in a fast paced environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal abilities.
- High level of confidentiality, accountability, initiative, and ownership.
- Calm demeanor when managing safety issues and aggressive behavior.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule based on business needs.
- Meet state and local licensing requirements as applicable.
- Ability to build partnerships with store leaders, neighboring retailers, and law enforcement.
