Summary
The Assistant Manager supports the General Manager in strategic planning and execution to ensure a profitable store by driving operational excellence, talent development, and brand standards. This role makes key decisions in the GM's absence and focuses on customer experience, inventory control, and community engagement.
Responsibilities
- Support General Manager with business trend analysis and strategic planning for the store
- Educate and coach the team on sales and profit performance tools
- Create and maintain a consistent customer experience aligned to brand expectations
- Assist in client development strategy and lead community outreach
- Execute talent strategy and participate in recruitment and networking activities
- Provide ongoing coaching, feedback and development opportunities to employees
- Manage store processes and execution including inventory control to meet shrink goals
- Champion use of new technology and selling techniques to drive results
- Ensure sales floor and store standards exceed expectations
Requirements
- Retail management or similar industry experience in a high-volume specialty environment preferred
- College degree or equivalent a plus
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers and store personnel
- Ability to operate register, stand and walk for multiple hours and lift up to 30 lbs
- Flexible availability including days, evenings, weekends and possible travel
- Proven track record building and maintaining positive working relationships
- Business acumen with strong planning and prioritization skills
