Chief Engineer

Summary

The Chief Engineer is responsible for overseeing all physical building and IT operations at the RH Guesthouse, ensuring facilities operate to luxury hospitality standards. This role requires a seasoned hospitality engineering professional who can lead a facilities team, solve complex problems, and maintain the highest levels of safety, privacy, and service for guests and associates. The Chief Engineer will partner with leadership to develop standards and coach a high-performing team.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day building engineering, maintenance, and facilities operations for the Guesthouse.
• Manage hotel information technology systems and coordinate IT-related operations.
• Ensure privacy, security, and safety protocols for guests and associates.
• Develop and maintain facilities standards, procedures, and preventative maintenance programs.
• Support Guesthouse leadership in hiring, coaching, and developing the facilities team.
• Provide exceptional communication and complex problem-solving across internal and external partners.

Requirements

• 7 - 10 years of experience in the hospitality industry, including 5+ years leading a building/facilities team.
• Certified Chief Engineer required; luxury hospitality experience strongly preferred.
• Preferred certifications: NYS Certified Pool Operator, FDNY Fire Life and Safety, HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing.
• Expertise in hotel information technology systems.
• Available to work weekends, holidays, nights, and travel occasionally.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Multilingual candidates are desired.
