Summary
The Jeweler at the New York Landmark store performs repairs and alterations on new and client-owned jewelry, working with precious metals and specialty materials. The role requires use of techniques such as soldering, laser welding, fabrication, stone setting and finishing, and involves occasional client-facing interactions. Standard shift coverage is during store hours including weekends, with flexibility for non-traditional hours and overtime as needed.
Responsibilities
- Perform repairs and alterations on assigned orders according to company quality and design standards.
- Complete craft work including soldering, laser welding, fabrication, assembly, enameling, hallmarking, finishing and stone setting.
- Inspect orders for defects, document issues, repair or escalate as appropriate and meet productivity targets.
- Maintain organized bench, secure parts/metals/scrap and manage workflow to meet due dates.
- Request parts, consumables and tools per procedures and assist administration with workflow management.
- Share skills with coworkers, collaborate on problem solving and participate in special projects.
- Comply with health and safety requirements and maintain a safe workstation.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant jeweler experience.
- Experience with soldering and laser welding and strong attention to detail.
- Customer service orientation with professional communication and appearance.
- Flexibility to work days, nights, weekends, holidays and overtime as needed.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Preferred: degree from a jewelry technical/design program, graduate gemology coursework or diamond setting experience.
- Preferred: fabrication or assembly experience and basic computer knowledge.
