Summary
The Experienced Jeweler performs repairs and alterations on new and client-owned jewelry at the New York Landmark store, applying a wide range of craft techniques while upholding Tiffany quality and safety standards. The role requires expertise with precious metals and gemstones, proficiency in soldering and laser welding, and the ability to work directly with clients and client advisors. The Jeweler is responsible for maintaining productivity, organization, and a safe workshop environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform repairs and alterations on assigned orders according to Tiffany quality and design standards.
- Execute craft techniques including soldering, laser welding, fabrication, assembly, gluing, enameling, finishing, hallmarking, and stone setting.
- Inspect assigned work for defects, repair or escalate issues, and ensure finished pieces meet standards.
- Meet or exceed established productivity standards based on work mix and role.
- Maintain organized benches, secure parts, metals and scrap, and manage due dates and workflow.
- Work with clients and client advisors to discuss needs and resolve issues as required.
- Comply with workshop health and safety procedures, report incidents, and maintain safe equipment and workspaces.
- Assist across the store as needed and participate in special projects to improve processes.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 5 years of jeweler experience.
- Proven soldering and laser welding experience.
- Ability to work non-traditional hours, including days, nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
- Strong attention to detail, customer service orientation, and professional communication with clients and staff.
- Fluent English (reading, writing, verbal) and ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Preferred: Jewelry technical/design degree or Graduate Gemology courses, diamond setting, fabrication or assembly experience, and Tiffany product knowledge.
