Summary
The Facilities Maintenance Technician I performs preventive maintenance and assists with repairs to building systems, equipment, and grounds to maintain a safe store environment. Working under close supervision, the role supports multiple stores within a business node and follows established procedures and safety protocols.
Responsibilities
- Perform day-to-day preventive maintenance and respond to on-demand maintenance requests from the sales floor.
- Complete maintenance records accurately and in a timely manner.
- Conduct daily inspections and building rounds.
- Assist with troubleshooting and basic repairs of plumbing, kitchen equipment, roofs, drains, shop systems, and HVAC.
- Maintain lighting systems, fixtures, and replace bulbs and lamps.
- Use manuals, schematics, and blueprints to aid troubleshooting.
- Perform manual labor tasks including loading, unloading, lifting, and moving materials.
- Follow safety procedures including lockout tagout, PPE, ergonomics, and working at heights.
- Escalate emergencies and summon additional assistance when needed.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED and a minimum of one year of related experience or training.
- Basic working knowledge in trades such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, roofing, heating, and cooling.
- Ability to understand and follow written and verbal directions and procedures.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills and ability to interact at all organizational levels.
- Flexible schedule availability including days, evenings, weekends, and off-hours support.
- Proficiency with power tools and willingness to learn; general understanding of mechanical systems.
- Basic computer skills for work order systems, email, and Microsoft Office programs.
- Physical ability to stoop, stand, walk, climb ladders, and lift or carry loads of 50 lbs or more.
