Summary
The Operations Manager leads and develops warehouse teams to deliver on safety, quality, and performance objectives while meeting financial targets. This role manages about 20 employees, drives continuous improvement efforts, and ensures KPI and scorecard results are met. The position supports recruiting, onboarding, training, and performance management within the distribution center.
Responsibilities
- Lead, develop, and grow the performance of a team of approximately 20 employees
- Recruit, select, onboard, and train warehouse staff
- Drive associate performance through coaching, counseling, and disciplinary actions
- Manage safety, quality, and operational performance metrics and scorecards
- Own process improvement projects using problem solving and continuous improvement methodologies
- Provide annual budget information and monitor expenditures
- Identify financial variances and implement corrective actions
- Use warehouse management systems and databases to support operations
- Monitor and drive KPIs and facility performance initiatives
Requirements
- 5+ years of warehouse experience in a managerial role
- Proven experience implementing continuous improvement actions that improve cost service or quality
- Demonstrated ability to develop others and grow leadership competencies
- Strong knowledge of warehousing key performance indicators
- Hands on experience with warehouse management software and databases
- Ability to analyze data and determine actions based on improvement opportunities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience managing budgets and monitoring expenditures
