Summary
The Operations Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operational excellence of a retail store, ensuring a seamless, on-brand customer experience while driving efficiency across in-store functions. This hands-on leader partners with the Store Manager and cross-functional teams to execute operational standards, manage inventory and compliance, and develop a high-performing store team. The role requires strong organizational skills, a focus on loss prevention and inventory accuracy, and a commitment to coaching and developing associates.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily store operations including opening and closing procedures, cash management, and store readiness.
- Ensure consistent execution of operational standards, visual merchandising guidelines, and brand presentation.
- Coordinate scheduling, floor coverage, and task delegation to maximize productivity and service levels.
- Serve as Manager on Duty, making real-time decisions to support the business and team.
- Manage receiving, processing, placement of merchandise, cycle counts, inventory audits, and reconciliation.
- Identify and mitigate shrink risks and implement loss prevention practices.
- Recruit, onboard, train, coach, and develop store associates and conduct performance management.
- Support omnichannel activities including Ship From Store and Pick Up In Store and ensure system and supply management.
- Oversee relationships with external vendors and manage store maintenance, supplies, and fixtures.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of retail operations management experience.
- Proficiency with inventory management systems, SAP, POS systems, and Excel; RFID experience a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop teams of 10 or more associates.
- Strong understanding of inventory management, cycle counts, audits, and loss prevention.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays; ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 lbs.
