Summary
This senior technical role provides leadership across precision CNC manufacturing, advanced multi-axis programming, and end-to-end production workflows. The incumbent translates CAD/CAM data into production-ready processes, sets up and programs multi-axis milling and turning centers, and leads new product introductions and process standardization. You will act as a subject matter expert and mentor, driving manufacturability improvements, risk mitigation, and continuous improvement across design, engineering, and production teams.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain CNC programs and clear operator instructions for new and legacy products.
- Set up, program, and operate 3-, 4-, and 5-axis milling centers and multi-axis turning centers with live tooling.
- Design, validate, and implement workholding fixtures and tooling strategies for safe, repeatable production.
- Collaborate with CAD developers and Engineering to incorporate DFM, define tolerances, and approve machine-ready prints.
- Manage NPI transitions: oversee first production builds, validate processes, ensure project timelines, and train production operators.
- Evaluate manufacturability and recommend design or process improvements to improve quality, cost, and throughput.
- Drive R&D initiatives to evaluate and implement new manufacturing technologies, automation, and equipment; coordinate with vendors.
- Maintain safety procedures, documentation, process standardization, and continuous improvement efforts.
Requirements
- 10+ years of CNC machining experience with a strong hands-on machining background.
- Experience in machining process design including programming, fixturing, tooling, documentation, inspection, and training.
- Hands-on set-up, programming, and operation of 3-, 4-, and 5-axis milling and multi-axis turning centers.
- CAM and CAD proficiency (Mastercam and SolidWorks preferred).
- Familiarity with Fanuc and Siemens machine controls and experience with micromachining.
- Knowledge of metrology and GD&T.
- BSIE, BSME, or equivalent degree preferred.
