Sewing Associate

Summary

The Sewing Associate is an on-site manufacturing role based in Downey, CA, responsible for producing high-quality upholstery components. The role requires expertise operating industrial sewing machines and attention to detail to ensure finished pieces meet design and quality standards. The Sewing Associate will follow production orders, collaborate with the team, and support specialty projects as needed.

Responsibilities

• Review and follow purchase orders, providing timely progress updates to support workflow efficiency
• Operate industrial sewing machines including single needle, double needle, and overlock
• Sew upholstery materials and perform precision adjustments to meet specifications
• Select supplies and threads according to material color and specifications
• Steam and press fabrics and use hand tools to assemble and finish components
• Safely handle fabric and assembled components, using assistance when appropriate
• Contribute to specialty projects and perform other production tasks as needed

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience operating industrial sewing machines in furniture production, sewing, or a related field
• Proficiency sewing upholstery fabrics and material components with strong attention to quality
• Ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment with limited supervision; strong time management and communication skills
• Consistent attendance and punctuality and a commitment to safety
• Occasionally lift and/or move items up to 35 pounds and perform frequent sitting, standing, bending, reaching, and repetitive motions
