Shipper

Summary

The Shipper is responsible for handling merchandise and goods entering and leaving the store shipping department. This role ensures accurate receiving, inspection, documentation, packing and preparation of shipments while maintaining safety and compliance with customs and privacy procedures. The Shipper supports stockrooms, alterations, shipping and store departments to maintain efficient flow of inventory.

Responsibilities

• Unload merchandise from trucks using safe lifting techniques and operate handcarts, flatbeds and pump jacks.
• Place incoming boxes in designated areas and check counts against waybills, invoices and packing slips.
• Inspect boxes for damage or tampering and log discrepancies, shortages or damages.
• Prepare shipping paperwork, determine shipping methods and affix labels and shipping instructions.
• Record contents manually or in computer systems and ensure accurate customs procedures for out-of-country shipments.
• Pack and load trucks, pick up and deliver alterations, and pick supply orders for delivery to departments.
• Collect hangers, cardboard and recyclables and maintain compliance with health and safety and privacy policies.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2+ years of experience in a shipping/receiving environment.
• Ability to operate material handling equipment and perform physical lifting tasks safely.
• Knowledge of shipping documentation, packing procedures and customs requirements.
• Proficient in recording inventory and shipment information manually and in computer systems.
• Commitment to following health & safety protocols and privacy/cyber security measures.
