Provides high quality alterations, repairs, pressing and fitting services to ensure proper garment fit and appearance while maintaining a neat tailor shop and delivering excellent customer service.
Responsibilities
- Ensure proper fit of garments through measuring and marking
- Answer customer questions about alterations, fit, repair, cleaning and care
- Sew alterations and repairs within agreed schedules
- Press garments to required standards
- Maintain orderly appearance of tailor shop and keep supplies stocked
- Maintain and care for equipment such as sewing machines pressers and steamers
- Use proper telephone etiquette when handling customer inquiries
- Hang and store altered and unaltered merchandise neatly
- Participate in store meetings and training as required
Requirements
- Demonstrated ability to perform high quality alterations repairs and pressing
- Skill in accurately marking and pinning garments for alteration
- Knowledge of fit issues with ability to recommend appropriate alterations
- Understanding of garment care instructions to advise customers
- Strong customer service skills in person and by telephone
- Clear concise communication and attentive listening
- Basic numeracy and writing to complete documentation accurately
- Ability to manage time and priorities in a fast paced environment
- Willingness to work varied hours and arrive for full designated shifts
