Asset Protection Detective - Chevy Chase

Summary

The Asset Protection Detective is responsible for protecting store assets by preventing and investigating theft, fraud, and other loss-related incidents. This role conducts investigations, collects evidence, and works with store leadership and local law enforcement to resolve incidents and support prosecutions when appropriate. The position requires discretion, strong observational skills, and the ability to act in accordance with legal and company policies.

Responsibilities

• Conduct investigations of suspected theft, fraud, and internal loss incidents and document findings.
• Monitor store activity using CCTV and physical observation to deter and detect loss.
• Apprehend or detain individuals in accordance with company policy and applicable law and coordinate with law enforcement as needed.
• Prepare clear, factual incident reports and maintain evidence chain of custody.
• Collaborate with store leadership and corporate teams to implement loss prevention initiatives and corrective actions.

Requirements

• 3+ years of loss prevention, security, or investigative experience preferred.
• Knowledge of investigative techniques, evidence handling, and applicable laws and regulations.
• Excellent observation, communication, and report writing skills.
• Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
• Ability to pass background checks and any required licensing or certification for the role.
