Summary
The Assistant Store Manager ensures a consistently memorable customer shopping experience while driving sales, profit and operational performance. This role partners with the General Manager to lead the sales floor, coach the team, manage visual presentation and support loss prevention and recruitment activities.
Responsibilities
- Drive sales and profit performance for the store or assigned department.
- Support development and monitoring of operating budgets and sales goals.
- Establish individual sales goals and supervise sales staff to maximize performance.
- Maintain a welcoming environment that builds customer loyalty and exceeds expectations.
- Coach and mentor staff to implement service standards and company policies.
- Provide feedback to buying and allocation teams on high potential merchandise.
- Execute visual presentation initiatives consistent with brand image.
- Implement loss prevention and asset protection procedures to reduce shrink.
- Recruit, supervise and develop staff and support timely hiring of open roles.
Requirements
- Relevant retail management experience preferred.
- Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to coach, motivate and develop team members.
- Analytical, business and financial acumen.
- Basic computer skills such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook preferred.
- Ability to operate register and perform extended periods of standing and walking.
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs and climb a ladder as trained under safety guidelines.
- Ability to work on the sales floor, stock areas, dressing rooms and office spaces.
