Summary
The Principal Designer is a senior creative and environmental design expert who leads large-scale experiential and environmental design initiatives, provides strategic counsel across Creative Marketing and Visual Merchandising, and shapes design standards to support brand and business objectives.
Responsibilities
- Lead design development and execution of environmental and experiential concepts for merchandising, events, and campaigns.
- Serve as the subject matter expert for environmental and 3D design, advising cross-functional partners.
- Drive high-impact large-scale projects and determine creative direction aligned with business goals.
- Influence and refine environmental design standards to improve consistency and scalability.
- Present complex concepts to leadership and articulate strategic rationale and business impact.
- Coach and mentor junior designers and cross-functional partners to strengthen capabilities.
- Produce detailed drawings, renderings, documentation, and proposal decks for planning and prototyping.
- Oversee vendor proposals, specifications, production files, and approve prototypes to preserve design intent.
- Manage project timelines, deliverables, budgets, and external partners across multiple initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Design, Visual Merchandising, Industrial Design, Architecture, or related field.
- 7 years of progressively responsible experience in environmental, experiential, retail, or 3D design.
- Proven expertise delivering innovative large-scale experiential and environmental design concepts.
- Advanced proficiency in Illustrator, InDesign, SketchUp, CAD, and other design software.
- Strong communication, presentation, and storytelling skills to convey creative intent.
- Deep knowledge of visual merchandising specifications, materials, and production methodologies.
- Proven ability to manage budgets, timelines, and multi-phase projects.
- Strong strategic planning, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
