Summary
The Director of Operations, Diamond and Gemstone leads operational departments within the gemological lab and gemstone acquisition to ensure accurate receipt, processing, inventory management and supply of diamonds and gemstones. This role develops staff, implements operational and IT initiatives to improve efficiency and reduces risk while aligning processes with business objectives.
Responsibilities
- Lead inventory analysis and execute plans for stone movement and supply chain flow.
- Manage receipt, processing, inventory control and onward supply of diamonds and gemstones.
- Develop and implement operational IT initiatives and industry technologies to increase efficiency and reduce risk.
- Partner with grading labs and business partners to set priorities and achieve required flow and FIFO standards.
- Oversee departmental personnel, budgets and performance management for operational teams.
- Establish inventory control procedures, cycle counts and adjustment approval processes.
- Ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley reporting, audits and corporate policies.
- Create business cases for inventory control improvements and technology implementations.
- Track KPIs, manage organizational structure and support strategic initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Minimum 10 years managerial experience and employee development.
- Strong computer skills including JDE and MS Office.
- Experience in operations, stone and process flow preferred.
- Creative analytical and problem solving skills with strategic thinking ability.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage compliance, safety and confidentiality procedures.
- Some travel required.
