Summary
As Principal Product Manager for Inventory Intelligence you will lead the development of AI-powered optimization models and orchestration platforms to automate inventory decisioning across the retail network. You will work hands-on with data science and engineering to translate complex business problems into mathematical models, validate performance through backtesting and A/B testing, and architect scalable systems that make real-time decisions across millions of SKUs and hundreds of locations.
Responsibilities
- Develop mathematical optimization models for inventory positioning, dynamic allocation, replenishment, rebalancing, and recovery decisions.
- Collaborate hands-on with data scientists on model architecture, feature engineering, algorithm selection, and hyperparameter tuning.
- Build and define requirements for model serving infrastructure, real-time data pipelines, and integration with warehouse and transportation systems.
- Design and execute backtesting and A/B testing strategies; define and track technical and business KPIs for model performance.
- Architect orchestration capabilities that coordinate specialized AI models to enable autonomous inventory decisions.
- Translate cross-functional business requirements into technical optimization problems and data contracts; partner with Supply Chain, Merchandising, Finance, and Operations.
- Drive the technical product roadmap, conduct discovery and feasibility assessments, and lead build vs. buy decisions.
Requirements
- 10+ years of product management experience with deep focus on AI/ML product development, mathematical optimization, or data science-driven products.
- Proven track record building and shipping production AI/ML systems at scale and working hands-on with data scientists on deployment and validation.
- Strong technical background in optimization, operations research, machine learning, or related quantitative fields; Bachelor's required, Master's or PhD preferred.
- Deep understanding of model validation methodologies including backtesting, A/B testing, precision/recall metrics, and production monitoring.
- Experience with optimization problems in supply chain, inventory management, logistics, or similar domains preferred.
- Excellent technical communication skills and ability to influence senior stakeholders, including VP and C-level executives.
- Proven ability to work in highly cross-functional, matrixed environments and drive results in ambiguous, greenfield problem spaces.
