Job Description

Summary

Responsible for creating original print and pattern designs and repeats that align with brand and target customer, presenting visual concepts, and delivering work within budget while supporting cross category alignment. This hybrid role is based at the downtown headquarters and requires portfolio submission. The designer researches trends and techniques to inform seasonal print direction and ensures vendor-appropriate designs.

Responsibilities

  • Create new original print and pattern designs and repeats appropriate to vendor capabilities
  • Present and communicate pattern and color concepts that are trend seasonal and brand appropriate
  • Deliver results within budget and understand financial impact of design decisions
  • Conduct research to support print design and color pattern direction
  • Research and report on industry print art trend direction and technique innovations
  • Develop and present original print ideas for duplication
  • Communicate to ensure brand alignment across categories and departments

Requirements

  • Degree in Textile Design or related field
  • Minimum 3 years designing original print artwork
  • Able to hand render artwork to a proficient level
  • Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator; NedGraphics preferred
  • Strong knowledge of historical art textile influences and current fashion trends
  • Understanding of print design color theory fabric construction and printing techniques
  • Solid organizational skills and ability to meet multiple deadlines
  • Knowledge of copyright registration and trademark infringement laws related to artwork
