Seamstress

Summary

The Tailor/Seamstress fits, pins, marks and alters garments to client specifications, delivering high-quality alterations and ensuring correct fit. This in-store role collaborates with sales associates to provide expert guidance on cut and fit and to confirm promise dates. The position supports department operations by maintaining workmanship standards, timing, and clear client communication.

Responsibilities

• Measure clients to determine scope of work
• Pin and mark garments appropriately for fabric type and fit
• Complete alterations to the highest technical standard and deliver by promised dates
• Inform clients of alteration charges per price list and confirm promise dates
• Partner with Sales Associates to ensure client satisfaction and provide fit guidance
• Complete designated sections of alteration tags and follow company price list
• Report supply requirements or equipment repair needs and assist in maintaining a clean department

Requirements

• Tailoring or seamstress technical training or equivalent
• Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar tailoring/seamstress capacity
• Previous experience altering luxury fabrications
• Ability to communicate comfortably in English and/or French
• Strong attention to detail, time management, and client service skills
