Summary
Senior Real Estate Counsel to support Kering’s U.S. and Canadian business and provide regional legal support for LATAM. Acts as a key legal partner advising on complex commercial real estate and construction matters across the luxury brand portfolio. Balances legal risk with commercial objectives and helps drive the company’s real estate strategy.
Responsibilities
- Draft, negotiate and advise on commercial real estate and retail leasing agreements, amendments, terminations, subleases and related documents.
- Negotiate and support construction agreements, architect and contractor contracts, subcontractor agreements and lien resolution matters.
- Manage and advise on real estate disputes, pre-litigation and pending litigation with landlords, contractors and third parties.
- Collaborate with Real Estate, Brand Management, Finance, Store Planning, Procurement and Lease Administration to execute real estate strategy and interpret leases.
- Develop and maintain company real estate templates, standards, policies and processes.
- Oversee and manage outside leasing and construction counsel and act as liaison to internal clients.
Requirements
- Approximately 10+ years of hands-on experience as real estate leasing counsel, with both law firm and in-house experience preferred.
- JD from an ABA-accredited law school and membership in good standing in at least one State Bar; preferably admitted in New York or ability to register as in-house counsel in New York.
- Advanced knowledge of commercial real estate contracts and construction-related agreements; retail leasing experience strongly preferred.
- Proven ability to manage multiple leasing deals and internal stakeholders to meet store buildout timeframes.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills and the ability to provide strategic, business-focused legal advice.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and to manage external counsel spend effectively.
