Summary
The Senior Technical Designer is responsible for approving well-fitting, properly constructed soft-dressing garments and ensuring consistency across factories. They create, maintain, and distribute global technical tools and tech packs to support product development and a closer-to-needle-point strategy. The role coaches and mentors technical design colleagues, leads fit sessions, and works with PLM, AccuMark/Gerber, Adobe Illustrator and 3D assets to deliver compliant products on schedule.
Responsibilities
- Approve garment fit and construction and prepare proto/fit/showroom samples for review.
- Schedule and lead in-house and virtual fit sessions with Design, Merchandising, Product Development and global partners.
- Enter fit comments into PLM with photos and dates and maintain accurate product data for tracking.
- Confirm grade rules, update tech packs, and add or revise construction detail sketches using Adobe Illustrator.
- Create, maintain and globally distribute simplification tools, fold manuals and block body spreadsheets prior to each season.
- Procure and provide materials for 3D digital asset creation and build/work with 3D assets.
- Support supplier calibration and certification processes and align offshore Technical Design teams to a universal way of working.
- Maintain and distribute global contact lists and pre-production tools to offshore teams and Quality Assurance.
Requirements
- Degree or certification in apparel manufacturing or design, or equivalent experience preferred.
- Experience in apparel roles, preferably focused on day/evening dresses and soft dressing.
- Knowledge of AccuMark/Gerber required; Adobe Illustrator sketching required; PLM and 3D/Browzwear experience preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication, organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to prioritize competing tasks.
- Proactive problem-solving skills and a sense of urgency to meet deadlines.
- Experience maintaining tech packs, grade rules and entering fit data into PLM.
