Assistant Manager, Material Operations

Summary

The Assistant Manager, Material Operations oversees day-to-day operations of the Material Operations department, supporting the department Manager to ensure repair orders are issued parts and processed efficiently. The role manages staff scheduling, workflow, quality monitoring, and the direct-from-customer repair process, while implementing process improvements. The Assistant Manager provides leadership, coaching, and development for team members and supports forecasting and fiscal responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily operations of the Material Operations department and support the department Manager
• Ensure repair orders are issued parts systematically and physically and monitor repair estimate pricing and timing
• Oversee the direct-from-customer repair process and manage aged and past-due orders
• Set goals, measure results through daily order and production reporting, and monitor quality
• Implement and monitor process improvements and promote workplace safety and wellness
• Plan and forecast departmental needs and partner with finance on ROI analysis and budgeting
• Provide leadership through coaching, performance management, cross-training, and staff development

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree
• Minimum 3 years business experience with management background
• Strong initiative with the ability to work without constant direction and to identify process improvements
• Excellent organizational, prioritization, and communication skills
• Flexibility with schedule and willingness to work overtime and possible weekends during holiday season
• Preferred: proficiency in AS400 and MIPS; experience in operations, technical, or luxury retail environments; familiarity with jewelry, watches, clocks, or silver products; analytical experience
