Summary
The Assistant Sales Department Manager supports the department manager in achieving sales and productivity goals, coaches and develops the sales team, ensures merchandising and inventory standards, and provides exceptional customer service on the sales floor.
Responsibilities
- Recruit, hire, train, develop and motivate the department sales team
- Assist in developing and executing a business plan to meet department volume and productivity goals
- Coach salespeople to deliver outstanding customer service and lead by example on the floor
- Actively sell to build customer relationships and drive personal trade
- Ensure merchandising and presentation standards are met
- Support accurate inventory management and help achieve shrinkage goals
- Collaborate with department and store managers and retail merchandisers
- Set and achieve sales goals through directive selling and team development
Requirements
- Proven record of successful sales results and strong productivity
- Competitive drive and ability to work in a commission-based environment
- Experience setting and achieving sales goals
- Experience developing productive relationships with store leaders and merchandisers
- Strong organizational skills and attention to follow-through
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
