  • Participate in the Global Assurance Audit Programme and conduct risk-based audits and inspections across retail, offices, distribution, construction and contractor activities, ensuring actions are completed and verified.
  • Maintain oversight of location Health and Safety arrangements, risk assessments, emergency plans and action plans, using findings and data to identify trends, emerging risks and improvement opportunities.
  • Coordinate responses to regulatory inspections, enquiries, complaints and citations, working with Legal, HR and operational leadership and maintaining effective relationships with relevant authorities.
  • Oversee incident management and applicable OSHA recordkeeping and reporting, including Sphera records, recordability assessments, OSHA Forms 300, 300A and 301, electronic submissions and required serious incident notifications.
  • Lead or support investigations into serious and high-potential incidents, identifying root causes, implementing corrective actions and sharing learning.

PERSONAL PROFILE

  • At least three years’ operational Health and Safety experience, preferably within retail, corporate offices, distribution or another geographically dispersed, multi-site environment.
  • Degree-level education or equivalent professional experience, together with a recognised occupational Health and Safety qualification or evidence of active progress towards one.
  • A relevant professional designation, such as CSP, ASP, CSHM or CertIOSH, is desirable, alongside evidence of continuing professional development. A training or adult-learning qualification, or equivalent training-delivery experience, would also be advantageous.
  • Working knowledge of federal OSHA, OSHA-approved State Plan, state and local requirements, together with an understanding of wider Health and Safety legal frameworks across the Americas and their practical application.
  • Practical experience of OSHA recordkeeping and regulatory reporting, regulatory inspections, incident investigation, root-cause analysis, corrective action management and organisational learning.
  • Strong communication, analytical, presentation, coaching and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to influence senior leaders, manage competing priorities and translate technical information into clear, proportionate and commercially practical actions.
  • A collaborative and credible professional who demonstrates sound judgement, integrity, confidentiality and commitment to colleague wellbeing and continuous improvement. The role requires English fluency, regular travel across the Americas and onsite attendance at least four days per week, with occasional overnight, weekend or out-of-hours work. A valid driver’s licence may be required, and Spanish, French, Portuguese or another relevant regional language would be desired.

MEASURES OF SUCCESS

Success in this role will be demonstrated through effective business partnering, strong regulatory compliance, effective management of material Health and Safety risks, timely closure of assurance and incident actions, improved contractor oversight, increased operational ownership and the ability to provide clear, data-led insight that supports safer business decisions across the Americas.
