Summary
The Senior Accountant is a key member of the Accounting team responsible for general ledger accounting, month-end close, account reconciliations, financial analysis, and reporting across retail, wholesale, and e-commerce channels. The role partners cross-functionally to ensure accuracy of financial results, maintain accounting controls, and drive process improvements.
Responsibilities
- Own assigned month-end close tasks including preparation and review of journal entries, supporting analyses, and monthly account reconciliations.
- Manage month-end close activities for cash accounts, including operations, tenders, and disbursements.
- Maintain lease accounting under ASC 842, including lease schedules, percentage rent accruals, journal entries, and ROU asset and liability reconciliations.
- Account for the company’s revolving credit facility, including principal activity, interest expense, lender fees, deferred financing costs, accruals, and debt classification.
- Prepare and support monthly financial results packages (Income Statement, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow, Gross Margin) and analyze variances.
- Support year-end audits by preparing schedules, documentation, and responses to auditor requests.
- Partner with FP&A, Treasury, AP/AR, Sales Audit, and operational teams to investigate discrepancies and ensure accurate recording.
- Identify and implement opportunities to standardize, automate, and improve accounting processes, reconciliations, controls, and reporting.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant accounting experience; public accounting and/or corporate accounting preferred.
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP, accrual accounting, and ASC 842 lease accounting.
- Experience in retail or consumer products preferred.
- BS in Accounting required; CPA preferred or parts passed.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with ERP/general ledger systems; Oracle experience strongly preferred; familiarity with AI tools a plus.
- Highly organized, analytical, strong communication skills, and able to work independently and collaboratively to drive process improvements.
