Job Description

Summary

The Senior Technical Program Manager at Nordstrom is responsible for driving the execution of complex technology programs within the Store Experience Technology Organization. This role requires strategic thinking, technical expertise, and strong communication skills to ensure alignment with Nordstrom's strategic goals.

Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the delivery roadmap, planning through all phases of the program lifecycle.
  • Engage with product management and engineering teams to align prioritization of business initiatives and manage delivery against key metrics.
  • Manage scope, resources, and schedules, balancing trade-offs between short-term iteration and longer-term planning.
  • Maintain and evolve the program roadmap across teams, ensuring alignment of program vision and objectives across dependencies.
  • Independently build and manage relationships across teams, resolving ambiguities and driving alignment with stakeholders and decision-makers.
  • Demonstrate a broad understanding of system functionality and interactions, and architecture across domains.
  • Lead and contribute to design review processes and serve as a subject matter expert for the overall program.
  • Lead projects through ideation, definition, build, testing, launch, and support & closure phases, utilizing appropriate project management methodologies and tools.
  • Plan and coordinate large scale test strategies that align with program goals and oversee completion of test phases connected to program milestones.
  • Oversee the deployment plan for products, coordinating across teams and functions, identifying, and mitigating risks, and ensuring quality and performance standards are met.
  • Use retrospectives throughout the program lifecycle to ensure continuous improvement.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Science or related experience required.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in program or project management within a technology environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects with multiple dependencies and minimal supervision.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to build relationships and communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • Proficient in project management tools such as JIRA, Confluence, GitLab and other relevant software or ability to pick up various software tools quickly.
  • Working knowledge of Agile methodologies and frameworks.
  • Strong understanding of the SDLC.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to identify and mitigate risks proactively.
  • Experience with large scale enterprise software/services.
  • Experience drafting technical requirements.
  • Preferred experience with AWS/GCP, Agile, lean, and Kanban delivery processes, and supporting retail systems/solutions.
